Required book: Wireman Comics - the first issue is attached as a free download. After registration, you will be sent one Wireman graphic novel for your classroom.

Wireman Comics were written by Sue Stauffacher as a literacy tool - don't tell the students! Wireman teaches novice readers critical skills, including the 100 most common words in the English language in a format that engages students.

ASK (Authors Specialist and Knowledge) is a process that provides students with the opportunity to interview an author or a subject specialist in the topic they are reading about in a novel. The program uses excellent literature, journal writing and interviewing to promote reading for understanding.
